Dr. Peter C. Friedman is a dermatologist in private practice in New City, NY and Instructor in Clinical Dermatology at the Dept. of Dermatology, Columbia University, New York, NY. Dr. Friedman’s early research focused primarily on elucidating genotype-phenotype correlations in epidermolysis bullosa and using RNA targeting tools to influence hair follicle biology. Dr. Friedman is currently active in multiple diagnostic and therapeutic clinical research projects. He is a leader in the use of non-thermal atmospheric plasma devices in dermatology. He pioneered numerous applications and is a holder of multiple patents in the field of medical plasma-devices. He is also an early adopter and expert of In Vivo Reflectance Confocal Microscopy, offering this non-invasive diagnostic tool to his patients, besides using it in clinical research. In clinical practice Dr. Friedman treats the full range of skin disorders in patients of all ages, serving a large and diverse patient population. Dr. Friedman is involved in the governance of the American Academy of Dermatology and in the leadership of the New York State Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, and an active member of multiple national and international professional organizations. He is an author of numerous peer reviewed publications, a presenter at national and international conferences and a peer-reviewer for multiple professional journals.
