Dr. Rui Chen is a triple board-certified specialist in Endocrinology and Metabolism, Internal Medicine, and Obesity Medicine practicing in British Columbia, Canada. She earned her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Biochemistry from the University of Toronto before completing medical school at the University of British Columbia. She subsequently completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of British Columbia and her fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Alberta. Dr. Chen is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
Dr. Chen is the Founder and Medical Director of ACE Health Care, a rapidly growing multidisciplinary specialty practice with four clinic locations and a fifth currently under development. The organization comprises more than 20 specialist physicians in endocrinology, internal medicine, cardiology, and rheumatology, providing care to over 20,000 active patients across the Lower Mainland. Her clinical practice focuses on diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, dyslipidemia, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, and other complex endocrine conditions.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Chen serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine and is Clinical Faculty with the Simon Fraser University School of Medicine. She is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. She is also a recognized speaker in endocrinology and metabolic medicine, delivering numerous accredited educational programs for healthcare professionals each year and serving on regional and national pharmaceutical advisory boards that contribute to the advancement of clinical practice.
Dr. Chen maintains a strong interest in clinical research and the advancement of innovative therapies for endocrine and metabolic diseases. Through her large community-based specialty practice, she has access to diverse patient populations suitable for studies involving diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, dyslipidemia, polycystic ovary syndrome, thyroid disorders, and related endocrine conditions. Her practice’s size and established referral network provide excellent opportunities for efficient patient identification and recruitment.
Dr. Chen is supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team that includes dedicated in-house clinical research coordinators, experienced clinic managers, nurses, medical office assistants, and specialist physicians.
